I have a bit of a problem and not sure what to do. I am no longer with my baby's father. This is his first child and everyone thinks that when the time comes he should be in the room. I am not so sure that if I have not seen him in 9 months that I would want him looking at me and touching me.

I had only my husband with me for our first born & it will be the same this time, I dont think a child should see there mother go through labour & for me personally I don't want the entire family there either, I think only the two people who created the child should deliver it into the world, its such an awesome experience they should share as parents...

There must be a limitation. The baby is for mother and father not the whole family, if two people are there is fine.Your partner is the one who supposed to be there.

Hi my hubby, mother & aunty were with me for my first child's birth on 08/07/2001. I had a really bad labour (40 hours) but it only took me 28 mintues to push him out and he was beautiful. I was very sure of waht I wanted with my first, having only the knowledge from books. I was a little naive so i wanted close family as i was worried about sh*tting myself in front of everyone - so i didn't let my in laws in with Zachuary (my son). I spend everyday feeling so bad that i didn't let them share that with us as i was embarrassed. So with my second Luke who was born on the 7th Sept last year, i left it open to whomever wanted to come in...i just asked people to tell me before the time so i could call them. My mother in law came with my son then 4yrs old (he didn't stay in the room with me as i had a bad time the first time). My brother came in. He's 15 and he got to cut the cord and hold Luke first, My mum again as you couldn't have got her out of the room if you tried. My hubby came in with me again & this time i felt i'd shared a beautiful thing with the people i loved. Mind you i don't believe in drugs i like to be 100% alert when my babies are born so i didn't have any pain relief with either of them until it came to stitching me up then i had local anaesthetic that's it. So maybe they weren't as happy about sharing it with me as i was with them haha
