Should You Tell? Our Readers Write!

Since we've had one miscarriage, we decided to wait to tell our family until we've had at least 3 good ultrasounds. Last time they were told too early and were very heartbroken. My husband hasn't wanted to tell anyone but I decided to tell my mom the day after we found out. Then I told my older sister since she asked and I can't lie to her. Then came my dad. I didn't want to tell my dad unless there was a heartbeat since he gets very sad for me. And my younger sister is now coming for the new year and we're planning on telling her in person. We decided that we will take her out to dinner, and we've already designed the plan with the restaurant. When we come to eat, the waiter will bring us a high chair. My sister will of course ask, what's this for, and I'll say something cute like "Oh, we're going to need this for the baby." That's it for now. We haven't decided how to tell his family. They are a lot closer in distance so we're trying to keep it from them as long as possible unitl the 12th week. We'll see how long we can keep it in! --Nidhi

I found out I was pregnant at the end of November from a positive at home test. I decided that with Christmas being less than a month away I would wait until then and just keep this wonderful news to myself. I just wanted to make it special since I am 33 with 3 siblings and I am the only one with no kids. Well, I had to tell my husband because he is very attentive and kept wondering why I was sick. We had our sonogram on the 21st of December and framed copies for our parents with bibs on Christmas day. I can still hear my mom and sister screaming and crying with joy! It was priceless.

I spent the Christmas holidays with my best friend, and I was a week late when my best friend MADE me take a pregnancy and we found it was positive! I have already had two miscarriages, so I waited until I was six weeks to tell only my boss, so I could cut back on some of my work (I had been working a lot of overtime). I still haven't told my parents - I'm waiting until about week 12 for that. One other girlfriend knows, and that's it so far. I can't wait to tell though, because holding back is killing me!!
