I'm on pregnancy # 4 at age 44...All my pregnancies have been different. #1 was a c-section due to a breech presentation.I had no choice with that delivery. I will tell you, it is a longer, more difficult recovery...so do not opt for a c-section just because you are 1 week over-due! My next 2 babies were 2 weeks late. Prior to my water breaking, there were no signs that I was ready for labor to begin. I never dilated. I was affraid labor would NEVER start. But it did, 2 weeks late! I would never choose a c-section over a vaginal birth. It is best to keep an open mind in case of an unforseen problem or complication, but please do not choose a c-section because you are tired of being pregnant. Looking back, those 2 over-due pregnancies which seemed to go on forever, really didn't go on forever!....babies come when they are ready, in most cases. Talk to your MD about all of your options

I'm due in 4 days and I have tried EVERYTHING to start labor, and nothing is working. I know I'm not due yet, but I am going crazy! I am so bored and am pretty much confined to a bed or sofa and there are only so many books you can read and movies you can watch before you're ready to strangle you husband. HELP, PLEASE!

This is my 4th pregnancy and I've been induced with all my children including this one, which will be on Wednesday the 1st of November. As you can see my due date was off, I was 40 weeks the 28th of October. I'm not patient at all, I'm under the impression this kids cooked it's 40 weeks, now it's got to go!! :) Advise to Ana, you shouldn't need a C-section, unless you're a small woman (pelvis just is too small) or your baby's in distress. I can't help but think any doctor that would rather give a C-section than try the cervical gel and patossin before they operate on you has some issues. I would seriously stress that you'd rather have a vaginal birth. They can't do it unless you give them the ok. At least with induction you basically skip all the small contractions go to the big ones and then hollar for the epidural, which by the way is WONDERFUL!! I have thought about using castor oil, as my sister had a midwife & went over her due date, this is what was suggested and sure enough she was in labor within 24 hours. I do believe the amount was 2 TBLSP mixed with 8 oz of water or some other drink.

My due date is this week and I have dilated to 2 cm as of last week. I don't want to be induced until I am over my due date, and then I will think about it. I would like to go on my own, though. I am afraid of being induced, having my water broken, and then not progressing. I am afraid that might lead to a c-section which I am trying to avoid. I have also heard that being induced causes the contractions to be a lot more painful.

Okay, I'm 39w with my 3rd, and still learning about my body! they are right when they say that every pregnancy is different. With my 1st, a week early and didn't even know I was in labor untill my Mom took me to the hospital and I was already 6cm. My second was a week late and I was induced with pitocin at the hospital. Eight hours later we had our baby girl! Now for my 3rd, I was contracting for about a good 3 hours at 5 min. apart and actually "thought" I was in labor...and when I went in they watched me and baby, and we were sent home later that evening. So, you really can't compare yourself to others or yourself...for that matter! Let your body do most of the work...I'm getting impatient too!

I've induced labor before. I told my midwife I wasn't feeling the baby move....(ok..I lied) I was VERY uncomfortable though. They checked me and said my fluids were low and since I was already 38 wks. They said they might as well go ahead and do it. It went great.....I was fine, the baby was fine and now I'm trying to think of another lie to try to induce for this pregnancy!! LOL
