This one is for anyone considering induction before it is needed. I have a 6 yr old son and I will be giving birth to my daughter in a few weeks. My son was 2 weeks over due and I was induced. Not once, but five times in seperate ways. First a pill was placed on my cervix, then cervidil gel, then my membranes were stripped, then my water was broken and finally, on the 4th day, I was given the drug Pitocin. I was in the hospital for 5 days in ACTIVE labor. Meaning that my contractions were 3-5 minutes apart. The thing with Pitocin, the synthetic form of Oxytocin which your body creates naturally, is that your entire body contracts. Not just your baby birthing parts. Face, arms, shoulders, legs, everything. I would not encourage any of you to be induced unless there was major medical necessity. Also, 7 out of 10 women who are induced end up in an unnecessary c-section. When my son was finally born, he was still covered in varnex and lanugo hair which meant that he was not completely ready to be born, even @ 8lbs 3 oz & 21inches. ( all without an epideral ) So, some advice from a been there, done that, wouldn't do it again!

I am not 6 days over due with my second child and my doctor is inducing me on Sat or Sun. I was induced with my first and really want to have this one on my own but it just doesn't seem like it wants to happen. My little ones just like it in their to much I suppose. All I think about is every little pain and ache and if it's labour. Starting to drive me insane!!! I'm too nervous to try castor oil, I have been trying some pressure points but it doesn't seem to do much. Oh well Sat will be here soon I guess:S

toro, yes the waiting sucks. I made the same choice. Your little bundle of joy I am sure will come out when she is good and ready. I was a week late with my first, but he was so way healthy and slept good! I have a week to go with this one so we will see. My doctor said I could be induced tomorrow or we can wait it out. I sadly chose to wait but I think it is best.
