As a mixed race person whof identifies solely as black, I find this sight very ofensive. The way that you people speak of your children is a bit worisome. I have read comments saying that couples couldn't wait to see what was "created" and references to people who aren't even mixed (in terms of one black and one white parent - i.e. Vanessa Williams). Mixed race people are people, not dogs, and the latter is the way that many of you have been talking about them. I hate to babble on, but the reason that this board is annoying is because race is a social concept to begin with, defined by white people in power. 250 years ago the term "bi-racial" didn't exist. Why? Becuase it was more useful for white people to call anyone with any black blood "black" in order to increase thier slave stock. Fast forward to today and now the term "bi-racial" is trendy. Why? Because again its always easier to define (at least half-black kids) as not black ,but bi-racial, to further destroy any chance of black solidarity (or group success) in this country. Race is merely a social construct utilized by white people to continue supression of minorities, especially that of black people. But considering the nature of discourse on this site, I doubt anyone here will care. Later.
