I took clomid to conceive my first child, and only got one baby. It did work, however, after the very first month's treatment. I was told that there is a less than 2% chance of twins on clomid,by my doctor, but I am assuming he was talking about chances in women who don't ovulate and take Clomid. I don't know what the chances or statistics are in women who are fertile, who ovulate and take clomid anyway just to increase their odds of twinning. At any rate, it only gave me one baby. I did end up having twins right after my oldest had her 3rd birthday,but ironically, not using clomid. Life is strange.
