To OH DEAR-- I just want to add one thing to possibly help you understand why I think it is not hypocritical to take clomid if you are infertile, but still believe it is a bad idea if you are fertile. One reason why medication perscriptions are controlled by physicians is that a physician must decide whether or not the benefits of taking a drug outweighs the risks. This is true for any perscribed drug, and it is up to a medically trained individual to decide. Any drug we take poses a risk, some smaller than others, but a risk none the less. The reason why clomid is not given to people who do not need fertility medications is that the benefits do not outweigh the risks. Simply put, if you are fertile you do not need the medicinal benefit of added fertility - therefore there is no ethical reason for the risk to you or your child/children. If it was only your life you were putting at risk I would say go for it - let the stupid be punished, I believe in Darwinism. However, innocent children born with cerebral palsy or blindness should not be punished from people who think they know better. I don't mean to be mean, I just want you to understand.
