I started reading this forum and find it to be very interesting. I actually am from West Africa, and grew up eating both the White yam and Cassava as a stable. Living in America, I still make them part of my daily diet. And when I think about it.. twins are all over my family!! my father has 3 sets of twin siblings, some of his other siblings have twins as well. On my maternal side, my grandmother had twins, and my mother miscarried with twins twice!!. Also, in school over there, there was at least one set of twins in class in school!! And I never thought twice about it.. In fact, having twins among the Yoruba tribe (where I come from) is very common... its very uncommon not to have twins in your family . So I definately think that yams have something to do with it ... because they eat it every day. There are many places to get yams ... look for any carribean./African /Latin grocery store and ask for Ghana/ Nigerian yams. its very easy to cook (just boil in water and season or roast), and it taste good with sauces with meat and spices in it..
