I am new to this forum, and really appreciate all the helpful hints everyone has shared. I just found out from my fert doc that I am pregnant, and wanted to share what seems to have worked. First, to let you know about me, I am 38, have a 27-month old son, and have been ttc again for 13 months. I did get pregnant in July of this year, but miscarried when baby measured 6w3d. After miscarriage, I skipped one cycle to let my body heal and reduce risk of back-to-back miscarriages. Then, my OB instructed me to stick with the following plan and then go to fert doc if it didn't work. Here's what the plan was.. Take 50 mg clomid days 3-7, then 2 estrogen patches days 8-11.5, then TTC days 10-16, then on day 17 start using 8% prochieve vag gel (progesterone) nightly until told otherwise. I followed the plan except as follows. We TTC days 10, 13, 14, 17, 18 and then delayed the prochieve for another 2 days while we were still TTC. (We did not know if sperm could swim through the Prochieve gel.) I will continue using the 8% prochieve gel for most of the first trimester, and possibly beyond that. (I was also using prochieve when I miscarried, but I was not being monitored, either.) As y'all recommended I also used Mucinex and evening primrose after finishing up clomid and until ovulation. My cycles have been 33 - 45 days long for most of the past 13 months, until these last 3 cycles, when they were 31-ish days, so I wasn't going to stick with the planned days to ttc if the cf, bbt, and opt showed a delay (which they did by 2 days). For 13 months, I have been tracking my cf, basal temp, and taking opts. This time, the opt was positive days 17-19, and my temp rose days 15-17 then held steady and slightly increased. I had egg-white cf days 12-15 although much, much less on the clomid than normal, and there were pink streaks in it for two days, which I've never seen before. I read that the pink streaks can be caused by the release of the egg(s). I will be monitored closely by fert doc for 1st trimester. When I told fert doc I took mucinex and evening primrose, he said the mucinex does not thin the cf as many of us would like to think, and he also advised to be careful about taking evening primrose if you are on hormones at the same time (as I was). For all I know, the mucinex and evening primrose helped, but I would just recommend letting your doc know what you're taking. I didn't meet with the fert doc until this week, and was just trying to get a plan in place with him in case I wasn't pregnant, and so that I wouldn't have to wait another month to start next plan (which we decided would be IVF). I feel like I know several of you after reading the entire history of this forum over the past month. Thank you again for sharing your personal stories and helpful hints. I'm praying that I don't miscarry again. If we do, we will leap into an IVF cycle, which takes two months because you are on birth control for the first month. Baby dust and many blessings to each of you wonderful ladies. I hope what worked for me will work for any one else who tries it. - Red
