I had my 3rd child by c section on july 26, 2005. My first two were delivered vaginally and were almost 10 pounds each. The doctors were concerned that this last baby would be over 10 pounds so they had me come in 1 week early to induce me. I had the same problem. My cervix was very high and not soft. The baby did not drop. They spent two days given me a suppository in my cervix to try to soften it and pitocin to stimulate contractions. Nothing happened. So, by the 2nd day-they decided to give me the c-section. It wasn't so bad. I was very nervous. The baby was out in about 5 minutes. She weiged 8 pounds 9 ounces. So if I would have waited she would have been about 10 pounds. The worst is the pain afterwards. But, they keep you filled with pain medicine.
