I just read the other things people have put on this and when i have done it, it starts right off it doesn't swing in a circle first. the way I do it is tie a string to a needle and stick the needle into the eraser of pencil that is sharpened. then wrap any extra string around your finger, leave enough string to allow it to move freely. then put your elbow on a table and have the pencil hang off of your finger. have the person your doing it on put there hand on the table with there wrist facing up(knuckles down) then you hold the pencil still and let it start it will go by itself it doesn't swing to indicate anything. i have 3 boys and it will swing side to side across my wrist and when it slows down thats when you count it as one child then when the pencil starts again you count it as your second and so on it will go in circles to indicate girls. I had a lady come into my store and tell me about this I thought there was no way this could be acurate so when i tried it on myself and it said 3 boys and 1 girl i was excited and had to see if it worked, so I have tried it on lots of people even people that i don't know and it has been right, i don't know how to explain it but it does work. I have a sister who's mother in-law is into lots of interesting things and she did this same type of thing using crystals and it said the same thing the pencil did. From what I understand it has to do with the energy your body gives, I actually just went to a family reunion and was talking to an aunt about it and she had it done along time ago and forgot what it had said so I did it on her and it was right, well once everyone seen it they all wanted me to try it on them and so I did it on like 20 adults who have had children and it was right on everyone of them including the spouses. I have done it on my mom she has 6 girls and the last is a set of twins and on the twins it just does really big circles. I have even done it on miscariges and it does indeed count them, I even did it on my mother in law who can't have children of her own and the pencil didn't move, it also didn't move on my father in law either so I consider the pencil a pretty awesome trick.well I would recommend everyone try this because it's very entertaining.
