Hello! I was about 26w along when I got my first kidney stone. They got to be so frequent (passing them) and horrifically painful that I was eventually put on about 160mg of oxycontin per day. This was after weeks of being in and out of the hospital on iv pain meds. After I read up on the medication, I flatly refused to take it. My OB said that my blood pressure shooting up due to pain and stress was far more detrimental to my baby than carefully monitered pain medicine. I ended up taking it for about 9 weeks up until delivery. My daughter suffered NO withdrawals, and today is a happy, healthy two year old. Today I am in the same boat, 7 mos along. Although I am still worried, I know from experience that if you take these medications EXACTLY as prescribed, you are likely to have a good outcome (if you happen to be in a situation where it is necessary to take them in the first place.)
