The Montgomery tubercles are "sweat" glands described as being on the areola. They can be just bumps or they can fill with oily white matter. There have been enough posts from women with "white nipples" that the impression forms that for some they cluster real close to center. Since the glands have always been there and in some women do become noticeable as PMS, what counts as an early sign is what is "different".
