I had the same thing. It's called a pilonidal cyst. If the hot compresses don't work they should put you on an antibiotic (there are plenty safe to take during pregnancy), and if that doesn't work, surgery isn't the next best option, what they should do is lancet the cyst and pack it with gauze, it's quite painful but better than the surgery which I've heard a lot of bad things about!
