These symptoms began for me around 10-12 weeks with pain in the right ribs of my back, and (more consistently) as discomfort under my right ribs - feeling as if I constantly needed to stretch out. For a week or two it seemed to fade, but over the last few days it has returned with more extreme pain and soreness. Here's what I have learned: (1) during pregnancy, our ribs soften and expand, and our uterus stretches upward - both of which can be painful; (2) pregnancy stresses our gall bladders and kidneys, and it is not uncommon to experience gallstones or kidney stones. Therefore, you should get an abdomenal ultrasound to rule out organ issues (mine showed no problems) (3) depending on your baby's size and position, he/she can push against your organs and "use your gall bladder as a punching bag". As early as 10 weeks, my 2nd twin was stacked on the right side on top of the other one and his head/feet seem to be very close to that sore area. So, as I understand it ... once you rule out gall bladder/kidney problems, we will just have to "grin and bear it", lay down if it makes you feel better and I assume if it gets too extreme you can ask your OB about pain management. Hope this helps!
