It is called placental abruption and at the time of birth it is very serious. I had it and if that blood sac breaks during labor you could hemmorhage to death. I had to have 2 blood transfusions. It is very important that if you are having very long contractions early in labor and the baby's heartbeat is dropping that you make your Dr. do an emergency C-Section now!
