I promised myself that when i was through with my experience with Misoprostol i will come back here and share my experience cos this was the only site i found helpful when i was going through this ordeal - pay it forward.
Here i go.... I inserted 4 pills vaginally on August 22, 2008 at 10pm. I started mild cramping 2 hours later it got stronger throughout the night. I didn't have any pain killers so i took extra strength tyenol (get something stronger prescriped to you). 6 hours after the insertion I was in tremendous pain (i was in tears but its bearable especially with painkillers), i could barely walk I felt a couple of clots come out, but opted not to see.
The bleeding was a lot by not enough to soak through a pad. An hour after the strong cramping I had finally fallen asleep for about 4 hours. The next morning the cramps were still there but tolerable and subsided as the day went on.
24 hours later at 10pm i had to once again take 4 more misoprotol pills, but this time i was able to get a hold of tylenol 3, and therefor was able to sleep throughout the night without any heavy cramping. its a lot easier with the second dosage.
throughout the week i had continued bleeding. some heavy craping at some moments. Bleed heavy for a week and got lighter the next week (so 2 weeks of bleeding). I had my u/s appt 2 and a half weeks after the pills and Dr. says that theres a bit of tissue still left behid but all will pass with my next period.
All in all, i would say that my experience was pretty positive, just that heavy craming for a few hours was the worst of it. I guess reading other peoples horrific experiences, i expected a lot worse then it was. If i had not read them and not known what to expect i don't know if i would have the same opinion. My dr.didn't give me much of an idea of what to expect.
I pray you all stay strong and hopefully this will have to be the last of our sad experiences with this drug.
P.S. When can i expect to receive my first period? i took the drug August 22 (almost 4 weeks ago).
