regarding the VBAC - I hava a couple of friends who had c-sections and were on the fence for the seocnd one. I remember one saying that the general opininon in the med practice ahd been once a c-section, always a c-section for w long time, then VBAC became popular an i think they said that it is back to them pressing for a repat c-section. I think that it depends on whtat the popular opinion is in teh med community at the time, asw elas the most recently quoted studies, plus a BIG part is malpractice suits. I know some women have to have repeat c-sections because of teir specific cirucmstances, but I do thinkt that many docs just automatically revert to that becaue they are afraid to take chances. My SIL had two c-sections. Her twin had one c and the next two were VBAC. My SIL was hoping her second could be a VBAC but ended up having to have a c (don't remember why). They are identical twins so when her sis had the VBACs she was really hopeful. Just a quicky quetsion for my buddies overseas - not you Daniella, because you are still part of US medical. I know in Aussie, Canada & UK you get much longer for maternity leave, but is it paid or unpaid? and if paid, for how long and what % of your pay? Just curious. Just curious as I am starting to explore those limited options here in the U.S. Wow, Dawn, your problems with insurance make me appreciate my plan. Which really sucks because if I am out longer than 12 weeks, my med coverage will discontinue unless I pay not only my portion of the premium but also the schools' portion of the premium which is a LOT to pay when you are not getting a paycheck! I could switch to dh' s insurance, but I am really worried about doing that because when he started his job and told the benefits dept what plan I had they told him to stay on my plan and just get the buy back form theirs, because mine is much better. The thing is, his monthly premium is cheaper. I may just check out his plan and see if we can switch for the short-term and then switch back to mine. I just don't want to screw up my docs and whatnot because I love the way everything is right now. I really get everythign I want and I pay very little out of pocket.(excpet that crappy 40% each month, ha, ha!). Damn - not only do you have all your healthcare paid for, and you have nice long guaranteed maternity leaves, but they PAY you to have a baby! I think I need to start teaching overseas!
