Hi everyone,

Don't give up hope! Here's my story.
My husband and I were just doing natural family planning--not having sex during my fertile period every month, and my cycles were very regular. So one day I didn't check what day it was, and it was definitely into my fertile period. Ooops. I can't say 100% that I didn't suspect that it could be baby time...

And then about a week later I bought a half gallon of milk, which is SUPER strange for me, since I don't drink milk, I drink soy milk (not because I'm lactose intolerant or anything, I just don't like the taste of milk). And I drank the whole thing in about three days. SO WEIRD.

And then I realized we had sex during the no-no period, and I started to suspect. So I waited the 10-14 days the tests say you have to wait, and took a whole bunch of tests. I must have taken 8 pregnancy tests over five days! And all of them were negative. A few days later I went into the doctor, just to ask questions and feel better about the whole issue. And he told e, nope, these tests are very reliable this far out and you would definitely know if you were pregnant by now.

Lies! LIES! I am TOTALLY PREGNANT!!!

Woo hoo!

It took another 3.5 weeks for a test to turn up positive (I kept taking them for two reasons: late period, and I JUST KNEW!). Do NOT listen to doctors that say those tests are reliable so soon--every woman's body is different! I read every post I could find on the internet on this subject during that waiting time, and it helped to know that so many women went through similar things. It could take anywhere from 2 months to your entire pregnancy (some people never get a positive hpt, they just don't excrete hcg in their urine).

So don't give up! I blame that stupid doctor for the 3-4 drinks I had over the course of 3 weeks. I should have listened to my body! Actually, my husband could tell something was different, but he didn't say anything because he didn't want to get my hopes up. :)

And actually, it was mostly just a feeling I had. My breasts weren't sore or bigger, I didn't feel nauseated or tired, etc. I suppose I did have a sudden aversion to garlic, but that's all.

NOW, on the other hand, the morning sickness is pretty bad, and my breasts are 2 sizes bigger! And I just want to sleep all the time. I'm 8.5 weeks along, and I couldn't be more excited! When I'm not leaning over the toilet, of course. :)

Good luck and blessings to all of you! And if you're not pregnant, which is of course possible, just keep trying!

A.C.
