There are only a few ways to chart your ovulation day, by temperature, chart your temperature everyday at the same time everyday, and when the temp. starts to rise, that is approximately when you are ovulating. The other way is the ovulation test strips, which work the same way as a HPT. If you went to the doctors and did a pregnancy test that came out negative more then likely you are not pregnant, the tests used by most doctors are highly sensative. If you take a HPT that comes out negative, wait 1 week and take another. If that one is negative too go to the doctor for a blood test, if that is negative, request an ultrasound. There is a chance of ectopic pregnancy (where the fertilized egg hasn't reach the uterus and is still in your falopian tube). That's pretty much all you can do but wait. Give your self at least 1 week in between taking HPT, and don't stress about it, the more you worry the less likely you are to start.
