If you normally have a clockwork cycle, one thing to check is your typical luteal phase. Apparently the luteal phase is generally consistent while the ovulation date could be affected by stress and other factors. If one has kept a good BBT chart, one can probably check the likely ovulation date and add the typical luteal phase to determine whether the late period is due to pregnancy or a delayed ovulation. This is one factor that most information sites do not highlight enough. In fact, the significant temperature to watch for post ovulation (as an early sign of pregnancy) would be the temperature on the date around the end of one's luteal phase rather than cycle day.
