My first u/s for this pg (I am 36) was done a 5w5d and all they could see was the sac. I am now almost 11 weeks and recently had another u/s that showed a very happy and healthy baby. Try not to worry... if your dates are off even a bit, it could be too soon. As Krissy mentioned, just make sure your blood work is ok. Are your HCG levels rising normally?
