Hi Hoping,

I am 37 (soon to be 38 in August) and almost 26 weeks pregnant with my 3rd (two boys 11 and 12). I did not do any of the non-invasive genetic testing, as from my research the results seem to be at best 95% accurate. Being a natural worrier, that 5% was too high for me... (I too lost a baby at 7 weeks years ago). I opted for an amnio at 16 weeks instead. I did the withdrawal of fluid at the hospital and then I went to a private clinic for the screening and got the results in 9 days.

They can start the genetic testing at around 12-14 weeks via ultrasound and blood tests. We only told my boys (and family) after we received the results from the amnio. However, a lot of woman opt for the blood screening and are perfectly happy. If the results show an elevated risk you can then decide to do the amnio.

I hope all is going well for you; sending lots of happy thoughts your way.
