Hello, Its a different topic..I do not know where to post. But I would like to share my story with you so that any one having this concern would be consoled. I had an ultrasound at 20 weeks and the U/S tech said that everything is fine. However she could not see the heart due to the position of baby. In the evening the Doc office called and said that they found an echogenic spot on sacral spine and asked us to come for another U/S after 2 weeks. we were terrified and the web freaks out, giving all possible negative info of spina bifida etc. But we talked to the Doc before the U/S and she said that she never saw that before. This made us so depressed. Finally the day of U/S and the technician was expressing all possible negative signs in her face and said that there could be an extra bone near spine. that almost killed us. The blood work was negative ruling out any trisomy, neural defects (AFP) or Downs etc. The U/S took 1.30 hrs and she continued to check for the EXTRA BONE. We were freaked out. Finally, the spacialist came in and checked the spine and for the white spot and concluded that its just the shining from one of the spinal vertebrae and nothing to worry. he said that there is no extra bone or any other deformation. We were relieved so much and he just looked like god that moment. I looked for all possible keywords on spine, echogenic area and read several research papers too. Everything freaked us and somehow we were forced to look into negative topics only :). Now this is just a nightmare and we are looking fwd for a healthy baby in August. Hope this helps any of you to feel better.
