I just got a call yesterday from my doctor about the spot they found on my son's heart. I'm in my 21st week of pregnancy and I'm 33 years old. I had the quad screen a few weeks back and it was "normal." My risk of a baby with down's according to the quad is 1 in 519. That seems high risk compared with all of these postings I've been reading where people my age have much lower risks. Does anyone know why that is? Then they found this spot. My doctor said she's not worried. That it's normal to see these. That 2-3 people in every 10 they find these echogenic focuses. She said that I don't need a Sonogram II, but that she'd ssend me for one if it would make me feel better. She said that the tech that just did my u/s is prental certified and that the u/sII will not tell me anything different. They said that there were no other indicators. I;m going for the u/sII on Friday the 28th. I'm absolutely terrified. Should I get the amnio? I'm just so afraid the baby will turn out healthy and I'll have a miscarriage. My age concerns me, however. Nevertheless, reading these postings has made me fell better. It's nice to know I'm not alone and to hear how others are dealing with this.
