You can have sex safely until your water breaks. Some people say that having sex will make your labor start, but I don't think your labor will start until your body is ready for it. Good positions for sex late in pregnancy are doggie style (put a pillow or two under your chest) or woman on top (he can hold your hands to help you balance). Some people talk about it working well in a spooning position, the man lying behind the woman, both on their sides...but that didn't work for me and my husband, because my big butt got in the way.
