Hi emmap07,
I just want to say welcome to the site. I can only give my opinion because I am not a medical professional. I have heard that anything above a 5 HCG is considerated a positive I have also heard 20 and above is considered a positive. I have had several negative test at home as well as the doctor's office. I am so frustrated because I really think and feel like I am pregnant. I have heard so many stories of other ladies that they never got a positive test and only the ultrsound was able to confirm pregnancy. I have also heard that they did find out until they was 5 and 6 months pregnant and also some give go the whole nivne months with vaginal bleeding so they didn't they was pregnant at all until time to deliver. I personally feel that the doctors don't know everything and you just have to listen to your body. Many people also say there is something called Phatom Pregnancy where your mind tricks your body into thinking your pregnant. I don't know. I think a good doctor that listens to you will be a great plus in your case and mine also however, I don't have that but I hope you do. Maybe you can ask for an ultrasound. That would definitely put your mind at ease. I wish you the very best and please keep me updated and I will do the same. I hope this was a little helpful. I really don't think there is a deifinite answer because not even the docotors know. They can't explain why some women have vaginal bleeding like a period during their entire 9 months, they can't explain why some women never produce enough HCG to be detected in the test but are in fact pregnant. There is no medical explanations so they will just rather keep saying no you are not pregnant or you have miscarried or are misscarrying.Sometimes they are right but not always. Be blessed.
