I logged onto this website after recieving a positive pregnancy test (my second IVF cycle), with a very low HCG level or 17. With my last pregnancy my numbers were sky high, so I knew immediately this was low. After reading all of your entries, I knew it wasn't good news. As the numbers slowly went up, the doctors expressed concern that the pregnancy wasn't viable, especially after a 6 week ultrasound, where they saw a sac, but no heart beat. So, we expected the worst, and then a few days later I started bleeding. There was none of the awful cramping that you hear about, so I was a little confused. They brought me in on Monday for an ultrasound to see what was going on . . . not only is the sac growing well, and now has a heart beat, but they see another one! They think the bleeding may be, that I'm losing the second one, but I only had the bleeding that one day. So, I'm not so sure. To all of you going through fertility treatmenst, keep you head & spirits up, and rember that they still don't have this fertility thing perfected. Each case is different, and no matter what the odds are, there's always a chance. Our doctor told us it wasn't completely hopeless, but the odds weren't in our favor, and we should probaby prepare ourselves for the worst. Yes, it's still early and anything can happen still - but hopefully it's a good sign of things to come. With my last pregnancy, I started out hyperstimulated, gained 10 pounds of fluid in three days, bleed for my first trimester, and was on bed rest for the first five months, so I've got some crappy experience if anyone needs advice. But in the end, I have a happy, healthy son at home to show for it. You're all in my heart and prayers!
