I have been reading these posts and am completely amazed that so many people have similar situations to me. I was suppose to get my period Sept 28th. That day I started spotting and then didn't have anything else until Oct 5th. That day I started bleeding very lightly. On Oct 12th I went through a pad and a tampon in 45 minutes with bright red blood. At that point I called the doctor. I had taken several pregnancy tests that had come back negative so I wasn't really worried about a poss miscarriage. The doctor told me that I had actually miscarried and that they would need to do a D&C. I had been keeping track of my basal body temp and the dr. looked over it. She realized I ovulated later in my cycle than was normal. She scheduled another u/s for the following Mon. That Mon, the u/s tech thought she found a heartbeat. The dr. told me that even a heartbeat was not very positive b/c my hcG levels were dropping. I was sent to a high risk pregnancy specialist that Thursday. That day I heard the sweetest sound I have ever heard. The baby's heartbeat was 149 bpm. The dr told me I have a 50/50 chance of the baby making it which is pretty normal in the first trimester. Now to the point..I am still bleeding every day. When the baby implanted it burst one of my blood vessels. The doctor said that as long as I keep bleeding the old blood, I should be okay even though my hcG levels are dropping. Of course I was still worried about the dropping levels. I am on progesterone. After reading all of these posts, I feel so much better about the dropping levels. So for those of you who are bleeding ask your doctor if you could have ovulated late before you let them do a D&C. Also the burst blood vessel seems to be a very common problem. I hope this helped. I know this is really scary and emotional. It's nice to be able to discuss this with others who are going through this.
