JamieA- I kinda went through the exact same thing as you. I went in for an ultrasound at about 7 weeks but they said it looked like 5 weeks. I never had a regular period ever and had no idea when I conceived. I was on 3 months with no AF so I couldn't even guess. Anyhow... I went back to the states for 4th of July vacation and to visit family so I was there for awhile and had another ultrasound done. I think I was about 10 weeks then and they did see a sac, fetal pole and heartbeat but everything was measuring about 7 weeks. So, they ran my HCG and then had me come back 2 days later. My HCG hardly went up at all. Ran it again and it was going down. Ran it again and it went back up. Like a roller coaster ride. Up and down... But there was a heartbeat so I just thought about that. My sister had the same thing and said it sounded like hers when her progesterone levels were low. So I asked the doctor to check them and he refused. So, I went to the local hospital and they did. My progesterone levels were only like 11 or 14 (cant remember now) so they put me on supplements that night and the next day the heartbeat was gone. On top of that the fetal pole started shrinking. I ended up having a D&C and they ran all these tests (that was my 3rd loss) and finds out that my body just doesn't produce enough progesterone and I started the supplements too late.
