Jayne,

I had surgery during the second trimester because of a blocked ureter. The urine was backing up into my kidneys and they did not want to take any chances. Surgery during the second trimester is the "safest" time to have it. It is not general anaesthesia, it is a spinal anaesthesia. I had a stent put in, then had it removed after a few weeks due to the extreme discomfort.

As for Bria, this is my second pregnancy with stones. Having passed over 23 in the last four months without medication, but requiring pain medication for a very large one. I am offended by your tirade.

I spent several hours in excruciating pain last week waiting for my husband to get home from a trip, swallowing tears and trying to hide it from my toddler before I would go to the emergency room. I don't take pain medication lightly....

I am glad you have been able to deal with your stones with no medication. I will agree with someone else who wrote that size, location and mobility affect that decision.

For those of us who are having difficulty and can't really find other people who suffer the same malady, this board is a little bit of comfort. Why not let us have it.

P.S. I have been suffering with stones for 13 years!!! This is not new to me.
