I literally just got out of the hospital on January 20 (less than 2 days ago) for a kidney stone. I woke up feeling pressure on the 17th in my pelvis region. Went to work thinking it was just the pregnancy (23 weeks), but the pain got to be unbearable! Called my OB and went in. My right kidney was FULL! they tried to put a cathader in, would not drain. He then sent me in for a renal ultrasound and from there admitted me. I then went in to have a x-ray done with iodine injected to see my kidneys and then had a stent put in on the 18. The pain was so bad they put me on a morphine drip (which made me sick as crap!!!) Sent me home on the 19that noon, was admitted back in the hospital by 9pm that same night because of the pain that I was still in, which is caused by the spasms in the bladder traveling up the kidney and back down. I was discahrged on the 20th and sent home with antibiotics (to help prevent infection), percocet for pain, and Detrol LA (to help ease the frequency of going to the bathroom). It scares me though everytime to go to the bathroom because of the blood that is in my urine. I was told that I would only have to wear the stent for a week (urologist told me that). But I am afraid of this happening again. It hurt so bad to have my right ureter blocked my a 8mm stone and I don't want to have to go through this again. I was told though that if you never have stome before pregnancy and then get them, you will be prone for the rest of your life to get them. They are awful!!!!
