January 1st I woke up with major side pain. I was 24 weeks pregnant. I went to hospital where they gave me morphine, did an ultrasound and sent me home with vicodin and told me it was a probable kidney stone. I went home about 2pm and by 8pm I was back at the hospital because the vicodin was not working and the pain was BAD. I was again put on morphine, given another ultrasound and told again that it was probably a kidney stone. They gave me percoset and at 6am the next morning, they sent me home and told me to take the percoset every 4 hours, even during the night. That day went okay, but bythe next morning about 4am, the percocet started only helping me for about 1 hour..which meant 3 hours of pain...I called my OB and after several hours of trying to get approvals from my Primary doctor, I was sent to a urologist who told me he wanted to put in a stent, but that he was going to do it without xrays. I went into surgery that night (Tuesday the 3rd.) They sent me home that night. The next day about 6pm the pain came back stronger than ever. By midnight I called my OB and he told me to take percoset every 3 hours and then go to emerency the next morning and they would do an xray. Well, about 3am I was throwing up the percocet so I went to the hospital. After several hours of morphine and who knows what else, the pain was slightly better. I had an MRI and an xray. The stent was below the stone. The urologist thought that he just did not put it up high enough. I was back into surgery having it replaced within 2 hours. They kept me overnight and I was sent home Friday at lunch. By Friday about 10pm, the pain was once again back stronger than ever again. I somehow made it thru the night (no sleep AGAIN) and the next morning I was back in emergency and had another xray. The stent was once again below the stone. The urologist said that the stent must be too small and it keeps slipping. I went in for a THIRD surgery. They kept me overnight again and I went home on Sunday morning. Well, this stent is holding finally. It has been almost 3 weeks since my last surgery. All I can say is, "stents suck!" They hurt! I cannot be on my feet for more than 15 minutes without cramping and shooting pains. I do not want to put my baby through anymore, so I am unwilling to take pain meds. I had to quit my job. I have a 2 and 4 year old that are trying to understand, but are going stir crazy. I cannot even take them to the park. I cannot clean my house. I know one day I will say that this is all worth it...but that day is not coming soon enough. Well, I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening:)
