I had a c-section on February 7th. I was given a spinal and was awake during the operation. M son was born at 7:36 pm. You are hooked up to a drip and can administer your own morphine, but it is controlled so that you cannot overdose yourself. By 4 am the following morning i asked for stronger pain medication which i received. I have to take that for the following 2 weeks. Throughout the night you are receiving IV drips and your blood pressure is being taken at hourly intervals. The next morning i was sponge bathed and eventually the drips and cathether were removed. At 2 pm that day the nurse assisted me in getting out of bed and walking. The following day I was told to take a shower and take off the bandage. The midwife examined me and it was fine, there was no bleeding. The day i left the hospital, 5 days after my son was born, my staples were removed (did not pain). While in the hospital, the most painful thing was the limited mobility for the days following the surgery as your body heals. It was rough for me and i broke down and cried a few times, but it was all worth it in the end. I have no regrets as i have a beautiful baby in the end. I think you stop thinking about yourself and just think about what is best for this other human being and you will lose the fear of the surgery (somewhat). Oh, I got a bikini line cut but your cut will depend on where your fibroid is located. I am almost 2 weeks since my operation and i am pretty much back to my old self. I got the go ahead yesterday to drive again but have been warned to only do light work if necessary.
