fibroids are generally caused by estrogen...that is why they can rapidly grow when pregnant- they can also shrink when u breastfeed.....so that a good thing! my update- i am now 28 weeks, measuring 32 -due to fibroid.....and baby is growing, nourishing and doing well!! have had some spotting, which the dr thinks is due to possible degeneratiion (yay!!) as my lovely fibroid has now grown to 15 cm!! she is quite convinced it will shrink after i start to breastfeed...if it doesn't cut off its own blood suppply first.......it is the bottom of my uterus, and baby is in the top...which is apparently good- more blood supply is in the top of the uterus anyway....but it also - like ruth- will mean more blood loss at the time of my C, and a tougher recovery - with an up and down incision...but aside from that baby is doing just fine.......!!
