hey ruth.......no, my dr said she would definately NOT do a c-section / myomectomy.......i will be having a c section, but she said during pregnancy it not a good time to do a myomectomy as the uterus is very blood enriched and there would be far too much blood loss, or even a chance of bleeding out.... she will cut above my fibroid, and do a c section - unfortunately it will be an old fashioned up and down cut, and the uterus does have more of a blood supply near the top, so i will have a fair amount of blood loss...more than with a normal C....she said she will try and do it so we don't need a transfusion, but i will not be opposed to one if needed as i know how hard it can be to recover from sugery if alot of blood is lost....and if i am gonna be a mom, and feeding another it may just be too hard to regenerat new blood in time as well!! scarring will be monimal as we are not taking the fibroid out...that usually comes from fibroid removal, as they often have to take out parts of the uterine wall and reconstrusct...she also said the finbroid will probably shrink after pregnancy, and definately if i breastfeed.........she has said nothing about a possible hysterectomy, and as i want more kids she said i should have no problems concieving & carring again......wioll have to breastfeed this one for as long as possible, to get this fibroid smaller!! of course i am aware if they do mistakenly cut into the fibroid, or if the bleeding becomes uncontrollable than a hystorectomy may be necessary- and that and the uncontrolled bleeding thought do scare the heck out of me!!!!! but my dr is great, she is very confident and reassuring....honestly if were you i would get a second opinion....my old dr told me i would never get pregnant with a fibroid, never carry a child, and that i should get a myo asap- in fact he boooked me in the hospital without telling me!! - he also said i should just do a hysterectomy (i have no kids and was 29 at the time) as it would be easier and i would probably need one anyways......well, i didn't listen to him......had no surgery and got myself knocked up!!! my dr now said its much better i didn't have a myo, as scar tisse can often cause more pregnancy/conception problems than a fibroid....!! so maybe try and get another opinion....
