Simon Michael was born at 12:36 pm, Monday, July 17th. He weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces and is 19 1/2 inches long. We got to the hospital at 8 am and were supposed to go to surgery at 10, but because of an emergency we were bumped until 12:00. When they finally came to get me to go to the OR I started freaking out a little bit. I was afraid I would have to ask for something for anxiety, but after they got the spinal block in and I laid down for a few minutes I relaxed. I think the demerol they put in with the spinal helped a little too. It took about 5 or 5 six minutes for them to cut me open and get him out. The most I felt was a huge push on my stomach, like someone was standing on me but it only lasted for a few seconds. When they pulled his head out he immediately started crying, all gurgly like. And of course I started crying too...Dad didnt cry though, I think he was in a little bit of shock. I got 16 staples to close me up and then back to the recovery room where I finally got to hold him. After 30 or 45 minutes the nurse came in and had us start trying to breast feed. Simon is a pro! He latched right on and started sucking. The pain contraol was great for the first 24 hours, because of the demerol. By the next day I was asking for pain pills every 4 hours, but it was manageable. We got to come home on day 3 and I have to say I am sleeping much better than I thought I would. Oh yeah... Doc said my uterus is in great shape, dispite the fibroids and scar tissue and I have the go ahead to have another baby. In a few years of course! I got the bikini cut after all, so thats good too. It's like Christmas every time I pick him up. I forget how wonderful it was from the last time I picked him up.
