hi ladies,

i am now 22 weeks pregnant. i got pregnant completely without trying. as soon as i turned 6 weeks pregnant i started spotting and was sent for an ultrasound afer the bleeding got heavier. they suspected implantation bleed was the cause of the spotting but i get the impression that the doctors are never really sure. at that first ultrasound it was discovered that i had a 15 cm ultrasound. they also saw the embryo sac but did not get a heartbeat. basically we were told to prepare ourselves for a miscarriage.

somehow baby held on even though the spotting continued at at the 8 week ultrasound we saw the little one squirming about with a very strong heartbeat. my doctor's visits are every 2 weeks so he can keep a close eye on me and every so often he sends me for the ultrasounds to ensure everything is fine. the fibroid is intramural and on the right hand side of my uterus and baby is on the left hand side. the spotting stopped as suddenly as it started on week 10. my doctor mentioned he was less worried about the spotting than the fibroids. he said he saw 1 out of every 5 or so women who spot and they all usually stop withing first trimester...once he got the heartbeat he did not really worry too much about the spotting, but i was told to cut down my activity until it subsided. i recently had my 20 week ultrasound done where everything looks fine. at 22 weeks he is moving around a lot and finding his room in there. they also found degeneration of the fibroid the last time i went but i have had no pain. i asked about that and they said that in some cases people have no pain. my fibroids have apparently always been asymptomatic because i had regular periods, no pain, every 28 days lasting 5-6 days. hang in there...i am being positive about this and you should too. during thest months i work as an accountant but incredibly have not taken a day off work. what i did is work my standard workday with no overtime, then just go straight home and put my feet up and relax. my social life for the first trimester was going to the grocery. i am 37 yrs old, 5 ft tall and and my due date is jan 31 '07. i am looking like 6-7 mths pregnant but have put on no weight!! the weight i put on in the first trimester, i lost, because i started vomiting in my second trimester. now i am better since i realised it was the gas making me upset, so i try and eat small meals frequently. the thought of food upsets me, but i have to force myself to eat for the bab'y sake. so far i have had no pain. my discomfort is finding a proper position to sleep at night. there are many many cases with persons pregnant with successful deliveries...after i found out i called several friends who had babies - some with huge fibroids and was comforted by their stories...all have beautiful babies now. there is hope for all of us....i just had to share my story so far since i found this site the day i found i had the fibroid (well a couple large ones and some small ones as well) and it has been a source of comfort for me. finally registered today....writing from the office so getting back to work.
