Hello everyone...came by this website via a friend who was wonderful enough to look into this subject when I wasn't. I have 2 beautiful, healthy children (ages 6 & 8) and took progesterone pills with both pregnancies. I was thrilled to find out that I was pregnant again in Oct 2003, but started spotting at 8 weeks...went to see the doctor and explained that I had taken progesterone with previous pregnancies...he told me "we don't do that anymore because is was never proven that it works"....and stupid me said OK. I ended up having a D&C at 11 weeks when they could not find a heartbeat and noted "fetal deterioration". The doctor said it was due to my age (35), which made me a high risk pregnancy. I was devastated and assumed he knew what he was talking about. It took another year to get pregnant again...found out I was 6 weeks pregnant in Feb 05. Once again, started bleeding at 8 weeks...same doctor...same advice....I miscarried 3 weeks later. I had decided not to try again...convinced I'm too old to get pregnant and unable to endure more false hope. But now I have read all of your emails and see that progesterone IS still indeed used. I'm going out tomorrow and finding a new OB/GYN and the topic of progesterone will be at the top of my list. Thank you for your stories. I wish you the best and hope that I can come back and post good news about my next pregnancy!
