Sonia, any faint line that appears in the time period specified in the instructions on the hpt you are using should be considered a positive result. if it is after the time period specified in the the test instructions then do not consider that positive because your body does have a low level of hcg that naturally occurs. i tested very, very early (about a week before my period was due) and got a very, very faint line. so faint that my husband wasn't sure he could even see it, but i definitely could (and obviously it was not just wishful thinking because i really am pregnant!) also, just to let you know, i have heard of evaporation lines on hpt's and found some useful info, including photos of different hpt's at www.peeonastick.com. when i wasn't sure about my hpt result I looked at the info on this site (amazed to see someone has dedicated such time to collecting this info). hope this helps a little.
