Can Working To Hard Bring On Premature Labor

My job is very stressful! I am on my feet for about 8 to 10 hours with no breaks (I rarely get a lunch break). My schedule changes weekly and my boss seams to love scheduling me to close one day (11am to 9pm) and then turn right around and have me open (7:30am to 5pm). I am the Manager of a hardware store and am 32 weeks pregnant. When I get home I am so exhausted and stressed! Should I take an early maternity leave? I can take as long as I want... mainly because it is unpaid and I am considered part-time even though they work me full time hours. I am just worried that I wiil go into premature labor from working so hard or that my it will harm my baby.

hi There..i feel sori 4 ur situation..since ur alredi 32 weeks, why dont u talk to yr manager n ask him for shorter hours? u made it to 32 weeks & hopefully till 38 weeks at least..u must b a realli strong lady..cos for me i lost my baby at 14 weeks n then at another time at 5 weeks..if ur tired, then u shd take that leave..if not try to wait it out.i dont think it will cause premature labour.. :)

I worked at a daycare centre in the infant room right up until 38 weeks, and I was fine. There was a lot of physical activity, heavy lifting of toddlers, bending, etc etc., I managed quite fine. I ended up being 2 weeks late!

It can, depending on your job nature and your definition of working 'too hard'. Doctors always advise us not to push ourselves to do things beyond our capabilities while pregnant. It all depends on the type of job you do, your own health, and if there is any condition that you need to take note of in your pregnancy. If you can't take it, don't force yourself. But if you can, go ahead and work right up to your due date. Only you can decide.
