Up All Night

My dd goes to daycare 3 days a week. 2 days a week the caregiver is not very patient with giving her a bottle. It is not uncommon for her to get only 6 oz all day. Yesterday she had 6oz by noon...I picked her up at 4:00 and she had not even been OFFERED a bottle. Obviously, I wasn't too happy. On top of that, she had slept almost 4 hours of the day. She didn't want anything to do with sleeping in her bed or even mine! If I put her down she cried. She just wanted to nurse and be held ALL night long! ARGH! I started the day talking with the daycare director.

Some kids get busy watching other kids and are too distracted to nap or eat on their 'home' schedule. Kellen is like this with napping. We are lucky to get 1.5 hrs out of her at daycare but on a weekend, she will nap off and on for 4 hrs during the day. The part that would really make me made is that they are not offering it to her. I would be furious.... I think I would be checking out other sitters. You may find some that are worse, but you may also find a really great one. It never hurts to keep looking.

So sorry to hear this. Are there enough workers there that you can request someone else take the lead on feeding Katie. It's kind of a rough spot if you complain they might get meaner but I'd hope not. How could they not offer a baby a bottle at all in the day? Was it because she was sleeping or what's the excuse? How much is she supposed to have by noon? and by 4? Are the daycare people clear about this?

She was offered 2 bottles, one at 8:30 and another at 12, then nothing, I came to pick her up just past 4. She did sleep 1 1/2 hours in the afternoon stretch, but was there another 45 minutes AWAKE before I picked her up. Kellens mom - Katie sleeping a lot in the daytime is unusual too. She likes to watch what is going on and hates to miss anything. She then normally starts acting sleepy by 7:00 p.m. I asked if they could find someone else to work with her feedings. Today the same girl was with her and by 2:00, she had taken 3 bottles...at least that it what I was told. Hark - now to have the doubt! I will go part-time SOMETIME and a lot of this problem will go away. She will be with a different person on the 1 day she is at daycare.

oooh, that SUCKS! I'm so sorry, especially with all the sleeping issues you've been going through. I'd be furious, too. Makes me really appreciate the fact that we've been able to rearrange schedules and keep ds out of daycare. I hope you can get some changes out of the daycare folks, and I hope she starts to sleep better soon. Good luck! (we're still fighting the crib battle, it goes back and forth.... sigh....)
