I just want to get a "Hi, there!" from other Moms to be that are over 35 and are expecting their first baby ... so I do not feel so lonely thinking I am too old to have a first munchkin! I feel so blessed and yet so scared with the higher misscarriage rate I am 5 weeks in!

Hi Vivi! I'm 36 and 5 weeks pregnant (7th week of pregnancy). My friends are all professionals. We're ALL just starting. Eat weel, stay fit. 35 isn't what it used to be! Best of luck!

I just wanted to say that my mom had my sister at 35 and everything turned out great. That was 16 years ago. And a year ago, my aunt, age 42, had a healthy pregnancy and baby. Good luck!

I am also a professional turned homemaker recently ... I am on my 3th week pregnant (5th week of pregnancy) and most of my ex co-workers have no kids yet!

Even though I am 29, and having my third, I would like to say: "CONGRATULATIONS!!", and don't worry too much about your age, it is the trend to have babies later in life now, and even though it has it's risks, 22 year olds can also have problems with miscarriage and defects etc. Just make sure you get the appropriate tests done, and enjoy your little tadpole! Hi Vivi, I'm 36 and 11 weeks pregnant with my first. I opted to wait until 1) I had a good career start and 2) that the right man was in my life. All my doctor said was to eat healthy and take care of myself!

To any women over 35, Will you have an amniocentesis done? Why/Why not? My husband and I are trying to decide. I'd appreciate your input/ experience. Thanks!

We are not going to have an amio done. because the risk out ways the benefit... in that.. we are christian and the only reason for finding out if the baby is "defective " is to terminate... we will not even if it was.. also my husband does have deformed hands.. so even if any test showed this or anythign else we would not terminate on our own... it would be in God's hands.. and anyway... tests and doctors can be wrong.. I worked with a womend who had test after test donwe and they came to the conclusion to terminate because it looked like the baby had kidneys forming outside the body and a spine forming outside as well... but guess what... baby was normal.... and also another girl I know who recently had an ultra sound was told her baby had a severe celft palate... but guess what after 3 weeks of test it again came back normal... so tests can be wrong... so no we won't be having an amio done....

I just found out today that I am going to have a miscarriage. My HCG is very low and has decreased overtime. However, I know soon I will be back in the baby wagon! Good luck to each of you!

Take care of yourself Vivi. MC are very difficult emotionally and I know as I have had 2. I remember the sadness which was overwhelming at times. It will pa__s although I know that is not much comfort at this time. I never thought I would say this but I am thankful for my mc's as they have helped me to appreciate my current pregnancy more than I ever knew possible. Plus, those babies lives ended to make way for this baby. I have a special place in my heart for them always and will tell my son how lucky he is that his unborn siblings made his life possible. I know it sounds silly but it helps me and it feels like a healthy approach to something so sad. I wish you the best and please use this forum for support if you miscarry. We would love to be here for you and our support may help you get through the sad times. XOXO PS - You may want to ask your doc in advance for some muscle relaxers or sleep pills in the event that you need them if you miscarry. I look back and could have used something to ease the physical pain and I think it would have helped me emotionally too. Sometimes it is okay to numb your pain if just for a few days.

Hi Vivi, I am so so so sorry to hear this. E gave you some good advice. And like she said, we are all here for you. This is tough. I, too, have had 2 of them. Take care of yourself.

Update about my miscarriage - I acually had an ectopic pregnancy and ended up getting a shot of Methotrexate on Thursday, which is a chemotherapy drug. This all has been very scary. Next week I will know the results of the shot, whether it worked or not. I will keep you posted. Thanks all for your support!
