I'm flying ome to visit the family in a few weeks time. It will be an 8 hour flight and I will be 13 weeks by then. I'm a bit worried of the long flight and want to know if it will be safe for the baby and is it advisable to fly. Also, if there are any tips or precautions I can take. Thanks.

Bec - I think if you've had a normal pregnancy so far (no bleeding unlike me!) it should be fine. It's probably worth wearing DVT stockings as when your pregnant and for a year after your high risk for DVT. Have a nice time with your family.

I agree with Justine.. My sister in law fleew to visit us in MD from Sweden when she was about 12-13 weeks & she was o.k. Of course the time change really sucks for you when you're already so tired...

You'll be fine. Just pack a snack in case of flight delays. The only time I've been nauseous was during a six hr delay when I got really hungry. (Am also flying overseas next week and I'll be 13 wks.)

Hi Bec !!! If you have a normal healthy pregnancy, it can be perfectly safe to fly during most of it, be sure to discuss your tripplans with your doctor before booking your (flight) You may find that your second trimester weeks 14 to 27 is perfect time to fly, and in either case reseve a seat on the aisle so you can get to the bathroom easily and get up to walk, and stretch to not get legs cramp. And drink plenty of FLUID especially water to stay off the dehydrating, also wear whatever makes you feel good and comfortable.... Have a good time
