Hi! I am about 8-9 weeks pregnant with my second child. My son is 9 years old. This was a complete surprise -- we thought we were done!

Kristen - April 26

Jen - that does sound like quite the surprise!! I'm just wondering what life is going to be like with a very active then-2year old and an infant. Anyone else worried about raising two?

Julia - April 26

Sure I worry about it, I bet it will be busy. At least my Aden will be almost 4 by the time the baby arrives, so it should be somewhat easier. I think at least the baby will sleep a lot and you can bring him/her along in a carrier to do a lot of things. I do think "mom" time could become quite small :-)

Julia - that will be helpful that Aden will be older. My Teighan will only be turning 2! I just remember the many sleepless nights.. dreading those. I need my beauty rest! But it will all be sooo worth it, I know. How are you feeling?

I'm 8 weeks today EDD 12/8/05. Went for 1st u/s yesterday saw h/b (thankgod - previous m/c). I too have a 2 1/2 year old son and am a little concerned as to how busy life will now be, but once the baby gets here think all concerns will be gone.

Christine - Congrats to you! I too had an u/s a few weeks ago, that was amazing to see the baby's heart!I am due just a week and a half before you. How has everything been so far compared to the first pregnancy?

10 weeks pregnant today with #2, my son is 20months, this should be interesting. I run a dayhome, so he is very involved with that and we call it "our" dayhome and he loves it. I hope he will be good with a new baby around, but i'm sure we'll see alot of jealiousy in the first few weeks (very much a momma's boy). I just hope i will get sleep sometime in the next five years!!

lilmum - I am so glad to see your post. I've meant to reply to your "how to bring another into this world", I was just wondering how you are doing? Are you sleeping better? It seems we are in similar boats - my son is 17 months, a total handful (but absolute delight!). What is a "dayhome"?

lilmum - April 28

kristen - i am doing alot better thank you :) I am glad to know i'm not the only one having babies so close together! A dayhome is when you run sort of like a small daycare out of your home. i was a bartender before my son was born and the hours sucked, not to mention i would be paying quite a bit to put my son in care for those hours, and i would never see him.

Kristen - April 28

lilmum- I have thought of doing that myself.. but my schedule now at work is perfect. I am a social worker, and work three days a week. When my husband isn't with my son, he's with his grandmom. I guess I can't complain about that. Bartending pays so well, but you're right - the hours would be tough on a mom. lilmum- Email me sometime to chat if you'd like, (anyone can really!) lilmum, I run a daycare from my home as well...so I know how tiring it can be. I am due at the end of November and at that time I will have a 4 month old with me (as well as a 3 year old and a 2 year old)...I am nervous at havining 2 infants so close in age. But the benefit is that I get to be home. This is also my second child, my son just turned 3 years old.

SB - wow it does sound like you have your hands full. I have my own son (20months) and another little girl (17months), and we had a third child last month (22months) who moved and we miss her alot. I do backup for other providers, and so we have kids from 2-5 come for a day or two there. We are hoping to get another one or two in full time care soon, but i do plan to take a few months off for this baby, so parents are a little discouraged about having to find care for those months. It sounds like your not planning any time off, you are a brave woman!! i cant imagine that! I started when my son was 8 months old, and only had one (the girl who moved) who was 10 months. That was enough for me at that point. I was a new mom getting used to things, and i HOPE it will be alot quicker adjusting to things this time around.

Yeah, sometimes I think that I am crazy. I am not going to take much time off however, my husband will be able to take some time off from work to help out.
