Anyone Tell A Small Lie To Get An Ultrasound

I'm about 8 weeks along, & had one great ultrasound about a week & a half ago to figure out my due date. Well, I (like most people I'm sure) constantly worry about miscarriage, & would love to have another u/s in the next week or so just to make sure everything is ok. However, I know that I can't have an u/s just because, I have to have a medical reason. I'm wondering what you all think about telling a small, white lie, in order to get an u/s so I can check on my baby??

lol... i have been thinking about it too... im 9 weeks today and still havent had my FIRST u/s because my doc doesn't do ultrasounds till 16-20 wkeeks and its driving me INSANE...

Just wait it out girls. I know it seems like forever, but believe me, the time starts pa__sing quicker. You don't want something on your medical record that is false in case it hinders your care later. I got lucky and had my first ultrasound at 13 weeks, and I am 21 weeks now and still waiting for my next ultrasound to determine the gender. You can make it through the wait! And the waiting only gets worse... it's waiting to show, and waiting for baby movements, then waiting for baby movements to be regular, being able to feel it outside, being able to SEE it move, etc. Pregnancy is just one big waiting game...

I have thought about it, honestly, but my advice is to wait. You are lucky that you got an early one as most won't do them at all until the gender u/s and a second one later in the pregnancy. I know you are worried, but I think the better option would be to look into renting a fetal doppler. Then you could hear the heartbeat whenever you wanted for as long as you want, but thats something to consider when you get closer to 12 weeks. For now you just have to relax. I got my first u/s two weeks ago and I am already wishing I could have another one. They are just addicting. So try to take your mind off things. Your pregnancy is progressing beautifully. Just relax!

I had an u/s at 5 weeks then 2 days later and then 1 week later. They wanted to make sure that the baby was in my uterus and that they could see the heasrt beat. tThe reason for this was that I had my tubes untied in June and on thing that can happen is a tubal. But everything is fine. The thing that I want to say is I was talking to my sister about it ( she is a nurse and so am I ) but she brought up the discussion that no one really knows the effect of the sound waves on a developing fetus. It got me really thinking about it too. So my advice is just wait. It is along time till your baby will be here and I know that you , like me would like to be rea__sured more often, but don't have prcedures that you don't need.

Well, you can always pay to get one, if you are worried. There are numerous ultrasound places that perform 3d and 4d ultrasound, most insurance won't pay for it.

Well, I don't really think lying is good but outside of that you should never lie to your doctor as it can impead your care. You should not lie. If you're that worried talk to your doctor about it...some will do an u/s to put your mind more at ease. Outside of that, just wait. If you're worried now and have another u/s you're just going to be worried again next week...and the week after that, etc. Just wait it out. I don't think lying is ever okay, but as I said outside of that lying to your doc is a VERY bad idea and not something you should do as your doc needs the truth to properly care for you.

Hey sammy, I totally understand the worrying and i get why youd want to have more u/s. What i did is hire a doppler machine from 12 wks so i could listen to heartbeat every day at home (theyre pretty cheap ...about 20-30 bucks a mth). I had 3 u/s - 6wks, 12 wks, and 19wks, and now have been told thats it!! (am now almost 24 wks) no more unless problems near due date! waaaaa. So enjoy em while they last, but i dont think you should make stuff up...its hard to fake the fear you would really feel if you were spotting or having medical issues....also, you wouldnt want to jinx yourself! Best of luck!

I would think that worry would be enough of a reason to get an ultrasound. I honestly don't understand why they aren't required at every appointment. I mean, miscarriage is probably one of the worst things that you can go through (believe me, I've definately been through that), so I don't understand why they don't take precautions, if only for peace of mind. Can you just tell your doctor you are really worried, and would like the extra rea__surance? That's what I've done, and I've had three so far (but then again, I have a bad history). Good luck to you, and I hope you'll be able to hear your little one's heartbeat soon!

haha I am with the other girls. Just wait it out. In the first trimester, I had unexplained bleeding and had an u/s at 6 weeks 1 day then another on the 4th of july, then another a week later then again at 8 weeks. Then my doctor told me that if everything was fine and no more bleeding that I wouldnt have another til 20 weeks. I am so glad i didnt have to have another. haha and also they can tell. haha they could see where i was bleeding on the u/s but couldnt tell why. So i wouldnt try to fib. :)

Hey sally! I just wanted to say, if you are going to m/c in the first tri there is really nothing they can do about it. That is why they dont do regular u/s. The farther you get in pgy you will see they do use a doppler and feel fo rthe baby at every appt. They make sure the HB is strong and that you are measuring to date. So that lil doppler is the reason. haha GL guys!

Regular ultra sounds are not dangerous. Please believe they would make us sign a waiver before having one if that was correct. As for 3 and 4D ultrasounds, I don't know. . . I heard the light is really bright and could cause burns. . . Don't know if that true though.
