Hello. My wife is pregnant, first time, both very excited. We didn't think we could have kids. Saw GP few days ago, pap smear and confirm pregnancy - all ok. She refered us to birth center. They don't want to see us until May 2. Do we go back to GP for checkup at 12 weeks or something along those lines. Please forgive a mans ignorance in these matters, im used to posting on 4x4 sites :) Thanks in advance.... Marko

It's pretty normal to schedule a later appt. You dont need to go back to the GP. No need to worry, how far along is she? (that also could have been the earliest appt with that particular doctor, you may choose to switch to someone that can get you in sooner??

Normally a doctor will not see you until you are about 10 to 12 weeks because this is when they can hear the heart beat and aloso when your chances of miscarriage are pretty low. Some doctors may have you come in sooner to confirm pregnancy but there is nothing they can really do for her until she is about 10 weeks. Good Luck! If you really would like to be seen sooner call and express your concerns.
