Blood Work Twice And U S Already At 7 Weeks

I know that every pregnancy is different, but I'm trying to compare this one to when I was pregnant with my daughter and it's getting harder to With my daughter, they did blood work once at the beginning...with this one, they've already done it twice and they have scheduled me for an ultra sound on monday, with the reason I was given being 'the doctor wants to see how far along I am'. If I go by my last AF, I'm almost 7 weeks. But what I'm confused on is why they have done blood work twice and already an ultra sound. I should have asked, but didn't think about it at the time they scheduled it. My friend seems to think that the reason they did blood work twice is because my hcg was too high for one baby and they wanted to make sure it wasn't a mess up so they did it twice and since it was still high, they want to do an u/s to see if it is twins. Has this happened to any of you?

Well, my experience is based on the fact that I've lost previous pregnancies, but they took blood a lot from me because they wanted to see if it was doubling like it was supposed to. What was your first hcg draw?

Honestly, I didn't even ask what the number was on either of them, I didn't even think about it. I know that I should have asked, but I've been worrying about some things since I took the hpt and got a positive that it didn't even occur to me to ask what my levels were. I've not had any miscarriages and my previous pregnancy (almost 3 years ago) was as perfect as it could be, no complications at all. Twins do run in my family as well as his family, so I guess it's possible. Just looking for other people that has had this. I might call tomorrow and see if they could tell me what my levels were so that I'm not going crazy until Monday.

mcbee is correct, they always (now anyway) do 2 blood draws to be sure the hcg is doubling every 48 hours. I'm not sure why the ultrasound yet, I had one very early also but it was b/c I was having cramping. Good luck.

Don't freak out about it. If your numbers weren't doing what they were supposed to do, they probably would have told you. Just look at this as an opportunity to get to see your little one (or little ones!). I've had 3 u/s already, and I've loved watching my baby grow and develop! Good luck!

Hi ladies. I had my u/s done on Monday, it was really exciting. The lady could barely see the baby with the external u/s, so she did a v____al one. It was a little less comfortable, but at least we got to see the baby. It's mearing 3mm and the hearbeat was only 101, but they said things were looking good. She said that because of the size, they are thinking the baby will be due on Feb 21, but will do another u/s in 2 weeks and compare to see how much the baby has grown because it might just be a small baby. I did ask about my hcg levels though and they said the first one was like 1500 and the second was 9000, but the doc said they were doubling perfectly.
