I'm 6 weeks and came down with a bad chest cold. My chest is congested and I've been coughing for the past two days. I know I can't take any meds. but is there anything else I can do? Has anyone else gotten sick early in pregnancy?

Hello celina I'm starting my 14 week tommorow and I'm sick like a dog. I've seen my doctor for infection of the throat, and told me the only meds you can take is Tylonel regulier, Halls, and wash my mouth with salt and water. I know is not fun to be sick but try to get as much sleep drink alot of fluid like water, juices, soup, tea with no cafeine but that as lemon. Boil water and inhaled the steam if you are congested it helps. Good luck and with time you'll get better soon. Congrats on your pregnancy.

Try Vicks. It worked for me last time. Also a humidifier. I've also heard that robitussin is OK, but just the regular kind that only contains guaifenesin. It works by breaking up your mucous and helps you cough/sneeze it all out sooner. But just make sure that guaifenesin is the ONLY ingredient.

Hi Celina, Don't worry....I had a sinus AND bladder infection the week I found I was pregnant (I am 5 weeks today). I took Tylenol P.M. to sleep (the coughing/sore throat were horrid) for three nights. NO asprin....drink a TON of water, O.J. and sleep as much as you can. Take a steamy shower (not scalding) and rub eucalyptus oil and lavender oil on your chest. Just wait it out and take your vitamins....very important. Hope this helps. :P
