Dual Pregnancy

I am going to ask this in general question room too. Last night after having an ultrasound because of cramping and pains...(I am 6 weeks and 5 days) I was excited becasue I saw the heartbeat and everything looked normal...that was just when I was in the room with the US tech. When I got home I got a call from my Dr saying that after being reviewed by radiology, they found I have a "dual pregnancy"....meaning I have one healthy baby in the right place, and one ectopic pregnancy on the fallopian tube. They said I need to continue to monitor my pain and cramps and go back in if they get worse...but other than that, I need to wait four weeks and go back for the US to see if everything is okay and it "took care of itself" or if we need to take measures. They said my "good" baby should be fine...does anyone know much about this? I am wondering if I should get a second opinion...Thanks.

I don't know much about a dual pregnancy, but I do know for a fact that a tubal pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy will NOT take care of itself and can rupture and cause you to bleed to death. I don't mean to scare you but I had a little scare when trying to get pregnant & the doctor though I might have a ectopic pregnancy & he sen tme for sono right away & said that this wasn't something to sit around and wait for... Ectopic pregnancies can be very dangerous. I suggest you call you doctors office again and make sure that that's what he meant. Do a search for ectopic pregnany on google & you will see what I am taking about. There are several things that they can do for it, like operate & remove the tube, but it shouldn't be something that you just "monitor" if the ectopic pregnancy is still "alive" and the cells are still dividing, you could risk rupture. Maybe your doctor thinks that that baby has stopped developing? and maybe your body will flush itself of it? I don't know but definitely get mor einfo from your doctor. You don;t want to end up losing a tube and possibly your healthy baby too...
